It is quite common to see bright red blood after bowel movement during pregnancies and after birth, usually when passing hard stools. Blood in the stool due to anal fissures can cause a burning sensation after a bowel movement.





Constipation is a common problem during pregnancy. Delayed passage of bowel contents slow transit is the most common cause of constipation during pregnancy. You may also have constipation or discomfort with bowel movements for a few days after delivery. Your first bowel movement may be painful if you had an episiotomy or tear in your vagina. Drink plenty of water and juices to lower your chance of constipation.
